All my R scripts erased when attempting to update my R version with installr package. Is there a solution in this world?

where had you saved your scripts to?

They are in different folders, they are still there but when I open each of them is now empty

whatever you do be careful to not have rstudio 'save' these apparently blank scripts that you opened...

Its likely an encoding issue. Try File> Reopen with encoding > UTF-8
