I have been working on a final project that is due on Friday for a week now. Today I got a lot of progress done on it and came back to it hours later only to find that all of my progress was deleted. Is there ANYTHING that can be done about this ???!!

Have you tried looking at the history tab in RStudio?
It's in the top-right panel next to Environment. It should have a history of all the actions you've done, even if you can't find the file you did it in.
I assume you did save the file after all the progress, but you might have overwritten it somehow.
