cannot install tidyr package

I would like to install tidyr onto my computer. However I am not able to from US CRAN. I tried changing to different sites, for example Canada and in each instance I receive an error of the type:

cannot open URL'https://muug.ca/mirror/cran/bin/windows/contrib/3.6/tidyr_1.1.2.zip': HTTP status was '404 Not Found'

So, I go to the website and look for the zip file and in all instance: US, Canada, Mexico etcetera the folder is not there. I am at a loss here. What am I doing wrong ?

This seems like a connectivity issue, R is not being able to connect to the CRAN repository you have selected, these are some things to try.

  • Choose a different CRAN repository, RStudios repository is a good choice (http://cran.rstudio.com/) or you could choose one that is geographically closer to you.

  • Disable secure download setting.

  • Check if your internet connection has traffic restrictions of some kind, like a firewall, proxy server, etc. This is usually the case when you are at work or school.

Perfecto ! Uncheck "use Secure download method for HTTP".
