Can't upload file after enabling Self Signed Certificate

I installed R Studio Server on a Digital Ocean server. I used the Dean Attali's instructions to get started. After getting the server set up, I am able to install packages, upload files, etc.

I tried to set up SSL so I can connect securely and do some development with an API. I followed the directions at How To Create a Self-Signed SSL Certificate for Nginx in Ubuntu 16.04

After completing the instructions, I'm not longer able to upload files through the RStudio IDE. I consistently get the "Unexpected Empty Response from Server" message. When I restore the initial settings and turn off the SSL, my ability to upload files is restored. So I'm pretty sure I've missed something simple. The nginx server configuration are below (located at /etc/nginx/sites-available/default):

No SSL - Files Upload
