Summary:

The Consumer and Clinical Analytics unit of Cigna’s Global Data & Analytics (GD&A) organization is searching for an innovative data scientist to bring best in class solutions to shape the future of Cigna’s Health Matters Score. We want you to enhance identification and prioritization of customer outreach for clinical programs and tailor clinically-relevant and individualized intervention strategies to improve customer outcomes. Responsibilities: What You’ll Do:

  • Work collaboratively with other GD&A teams and cross-functional partners within Consumer Health Engagement (CHE), Data Analytics & Engineering, Operations, Product, and Information Technology to develop, execute, and maintain analytic products in a changing healthcare environment

  • Understand business problems and utilize data science and predictive modeling to develop advanced solutions like GLMs, Machine Learning, and Clustering across a variety of big data (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig, and Scala), other database platforms (Teradata, SQL databases), and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure and GCP

  • Develop clinically-appropriate data science solutions that create actionable insights and recommendations and prioritizes specific interventions and clinical actions by customer and client

  • Understand how our analytics affect the broader business and bridge gap between data science and stakeholders with regular and clear communication

  • Manage end-to-end modeling and solution development life-cycle from requirements gathering, identification of data sources, model development and evaluation, to data processes and model implementation

  • Explore and visualize the data using tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau, Looker, etc.

  • Work with data engineers to deploy models, build data pipelines, and implement scalable systems

Qualifications: What you need to do the job:

Please note- you must have data science healthcare/clinical experience with a focus on predictive modeling and machine learning to be considered for this role

  • Bachelor’s and Advanced degree highly preferred in Statistics, Biostatistics, Econometrics, Economics, Epidemiology, Actuarial Science, or Data Science or equivalent work experience

  • Previous data science and statistical healthcare and/or clinical experience required (5 or more years)

  • Minimum 5 years of hands on advanced programming experience working with Python or R, and SQL required

  • Understanding and experience with leading supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods such as Multiple Regression, Logistic Regression, Neural Networks, Deep Learning, KNN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Trees, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, and Ensemble methods

  • Previous work experience blending creativity with analytical, technical, and business acumen to problem solve

  • Proven ability to collaborate with others, establish working relationships, and communicate effectively within a large corporate matrix environment

  • Experience with Data Robot highly desired

  • Self-motivation and comfort with ambiguity
