I was very excited to see https://github.com/rstudio/rstudio/pull/6848 land in the daily 1.4 branch a while back. Might this land in Preview anytime in the near(ish) future? Preview/EAGER is as cutting edge as I'm comfortable going and this is a very desirable feature. 
No, not in the near future; the Command Palette is part of the 1.4 release and won't be backported to the 1.3 branch. 1.4 previews will probably start appearing around September or October.
