Connect to posit-workbench from vscode desktop

I was wondering if it is possible/will be possible in the future to connect to a vscode instance launched via posit workbench from vscode desktop (similar to gitpod/github codespaces).

The web version is quite nice, but for me the desktop app still has a couple of advantages:

  • use the full screen space
  • seamlessly switch between local/posit/codespaces/remote-ssh workspaces
  • automatically use all my local settings for appearance and keyboard shortcuts

I want to have this feature too! One advantage for me is that the server cannot connect to the Internet. Thus, the VS Code running on the server cannot download any VS Code extensions, not to say to use AI coding tools like Github Copilot.

Please consider this feature for us, thanks!!!
