could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "windows"

Error Information:

RStudio was working fine and then all of a sudden I cannot start RStudio. Every time I attempt to open the program I get the following message pop-up:
"This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "windows". Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
Description of issue -

Attempted steps taken to fix -
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program, it opened RStudio momentarily, but then as soon as I tried to open one of my projects, the same message appeared.

System Information:

  • RStudio Edition: Desktop
  • RStudio Version: I don't remember which version I had to begin with, but now I have an older version (1.0.153)
  • OS Version: Windows 10
  • R Version: 3.4.2
