Determining most stable R version for production environments

Hi,
We are currently deliberating between R versions for a production environment.
We are planning to install R 3.6 and 4.0, but are debating between major and minor releases (ie. 3.6.0 vs 3.6.3 and 4.0.0 vs 4.0.3).

I am hopeful that we can inform our final decision and future processes by the experience and advice of this community.

We are using RStudio Professional products, but reasoned that this topic applies to the RStudio community as a whole. Thank you in advance for all feedback/advice.

Hi @oisin,

We generally recommend installing the last in a point-release series, as the releases within any minor release (e.g. the 3.6.xs) tend to be bugfixes and performance improvements. So we'd recommend installing 3.6.3 and 4.0.3.
