Error 24 Too Many Files Open

Hi all,

I occasionally get "Error 24: Too many files open" but that's not the case. If I run ulimit I get "unlimited" and if I run sysctl fs.file-max I get "fs.file-max = 9223372036854775807". Here is my system specs:
