Error message regarding main memory - redux

Hi all, I am encountering this error message again.

Error: comment.sty:19523: TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size=5000000].

The problem is that the program was working just fine (using Markdown, knitr, and LaTeX). I literally made no changes in the document and this is now the message I am getting.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hint is this is something to do with Latex, and that is highly dependant of your specific content and what your are doing.

Without any reproducible example, it will be difficult to help more

Thanks. The problem is that it is a 300 page book with figures, equations, etc. I don't know what snippet of code I should send. It did compile before, but it seems that it there off this message after adding a few more figures.

the matlab specific advice here might not be relevant but there seems to be more general advice also
