Expose or build an NPM app through Shiny?

Hello community,

We are considering to build an NPMJS based app visualizing on a map certain statistics and we would like to somehow integrate or expose it through our ShinyApp (running on shiny-server community edition).
Upon exposing it, there will be some visualization controls that should be available on the Shiny or the NPM JS that will be altering what is visible.

On a high level content, would that be an option? Any guidelines or suggestions based on your experience?
