General Query regarding special characters

Hello all,

I have one query, can we use special characters like x bar with bar and x square with square in RStudio?

Rmd files will display \LaTeX symbols like \bar{x} and x^2, but I've never tried to use them in calculations, obviously.

The syntax is $ followed by \ with no space, the \LaTeX code followed by another $.
