I am trying to preform a generalized linear mixed effects model to see if lemur abundance has changed as a result in changes in disturbance over a 6 year period. Disturbance and lemur data was collected during patrols that are not systematic, some months had more patrols than others, and some years had more patrols than others, so I need to control for year and month. There are a lot of zeros so I think that a negative binomial distribution would be the best fit. If anyone could offer some advise as to how I would construct this code I would appreciate it!.
