getting snippets running on new RStudio installation

I'm getting RStudio going on a new windows laptop, and I don't seem to be able to get snippets working in either R or RMarkdown.

I have windows 11, and RStudio 2022.12.0 build 353.

In getting started, I tried to bring over all my snippets from my previous computer, pasting them into the snippets using the IDE through Global Options.
But no snippets were working.
I tried removing my custom snippets and that didn't help. I tried only having one very simple snippet at all in the IDE editing window and that didn't help.
Certainly I have the "enable snippets" checkbox checked :slight_smile:

Does anyone have any good places to look to start getting snippets to fire?
