I encounter a lot of issues like this one because I have enough students in my classes that lots can -- and does! -- go wrong, so I'd be happy to help chase this one down, if you'd be up for it -- it would help prepare for the same happening with my students. If so, it occurred to me that although you were installing tidyverse, you were loading ggplot2, and your sessionInfo() output showed many missing tidyverse subpackages. If you ran library(tidyverse), that might give us a little more information; however, I'm also in favor of avoiding of frutstration
