grades ranking help required

Hello,
Is there a way to create a function or there is a command that can rank A, A-, B+, B, B- and so on, in that order. I am trying to plot the # of students in each grade vs. grade to determine grade distribution, but r histogram plots, A, A-, B, B+, B- and so on.

Just define an ordered factor for all grades.
