Help with error with distinct

Hi all, would you please tell me what wrong in this case?

df %>% distinct(symbol)
Error in UseMethod("distinct") :
no applicable method for 'distinct' applied to an object of class "c('DFrame', 'DataFrame', 'SimpleList', 'RectangularData', 'List', 'DataFrame_OR_NULL', 'Vector', 'list_OR_List', 'Annotated', 'vector_OR_Vector')"

df
DataFrame with 67034 rows and 16 columns

Thank you so much!

Could you cut and paste the output from

str(df)

please? I think you may be trying to use dplyr::distinct with an unsuitable object and this easiest way to detect.

str(df)
Formal class 'DFrame' [package "S4Vectors"] with 6 slots

unique(df$symbol) worked but I want to keep the data frame, the unique function only returns a vector of unique values. Thank you!

S4 objects are not data frames. The {S4Vectors} DFrame is a "virtual data frame," as the authors describe it. It contains the elements of a data frame rearranged to be more object oriented. It would be nice if an those could be dispatched to the usual methods that work with native data frames, but I think that you will probably need to do some deconstruction and reassembly.

So which function in the library(S4Vectors) I should use on my df? Thank you.
