Hello,
What is the best way to update R to version 3.6 on QuickStart? I wanted to use installr package, but figure it might be best to ask the community the best practices of upgrading R in a Linux environment.

One option would be to follow the directions here. You should follow the instructions for "Ubuntu 18.04" / "bionic" (since that is the operating system of the QuickStart).

Note that you shouldn't need some of the system dependencies, since R is already installed, and you are just adding a version.
That is probably the easiest recommended path for use with our professional products
