This is more of a theory question than a coding issue. I'm using the R package lcmm to run a linear mixed effect model, and it's working, only when I increase the number of groups it's returning a few empty classes. I cannot share a code/data example due to issues with data privacy for this specific project, but I'm attaching an image of what the returned graphs with groups look like. The summary() command for the hlme model I run shows no issues-just nobody is placed in groups 3 or 5. Thanks so much for any insight/ideas as to why this might happen!
