So basically, once I run a line I just cannot go back to modify it anymore.
I was able to do it before but after reinstalling windows, I can't anymore.

assuming you are using Rstudio ...
Are you distinguishing between a script pane in Rstudio (file new etc..., the top left pane typically) and the console of Rstudio (usually at the bottom left) ?

I honestly feel so dumb right now, Im a total beginner in R, and I used it once before.
I have no idea how I didnt notice i was typing in the console all along and not creating a new file.
