Pagedown(resume) template not producing the right formatting

I used the pagedown::html_resume template to create a CV via rstudio. However, when I click 'knit' on .rmd, it is not producing the same layout or output as the example tutorial I followed from here: Write your CV

However, when I try to knit it in rmd, the formatting gets lost and there is no error message that appears for me to troubleshoot it, incorrect formatting shown in screenshot:

How can I get the right pagedown html resume formatting of as shown in the linked tutorial above?

What code did you use ? You did not share it.

Also have you followed the doc on how to preview a paged document ? You can't just open the HTML file - you need to serve it: see pagedown: Create Paged HTML Documents for Printing from R Markdown
