Problem installing any package from github

Hey,
I'm having trouble installing any development version of packages from github through {remotes} or {devtools} or using any other methods. mostly i keep getting the "had non-zero exit status".
Usually it'll ask me to update a package, which even if i click approve or update myself in a different session it won't help. I tried reinstalling R and Rstudio.

For example, here's a request for updating a package prior to even trying to install.

devtools::install_github("clauswilke/ggtext")

If i restart R or install.packages on that specific package, or even add force = TRUE or deps = FALSE it won't necessarily ask me for updates but then I just get the following:

Shalom Amit,
I find this suspicious, but I don't know enough to suggest what to do about it :frowning:

It is very common for R having issues when installing packages on cloud-synced folders, try installing on a local folder instead (e.g. "C:\\Program Files\\R\\R-3.6.2\\library") and see if that helps.

Hey,
Sorry about that. I was having a problem creating a reproducible code this time around so I took the issue when I tried forwarding it to friends (before i reinstalled R and Rstudio).

These are the current directories used both for base libraries and the ones i use and on which R is installed:
"[1] C:/Users/amitl/R/Rpackages" "C:/Program Files/R/R-3.6.2/library"

Here is another session I just tried running:

devtools::install_github("clauswilke/ggtext", force = TRUE)

I tried editing the `LC_CTYPE according to some stockoverflow answers but to no avail.
