I can't seem to set my working directory to the excel file which I have saved as a csv. I've been able to do this before on other computers with no trouble. Have tried importing it from different folders and they all show my file as greyed over.
you never set a working directory to a file. You set a working directory to a directory. That's why the files are greyed out.

Can you show a screen shot of what you are talking about? I'm unsure what you are referring to.
