problem when installing packages bear for bioéquivalence

Dear R community,

I would like to request your assistance regarding the installation of the "bear" package in RStudio using "preinst". I have encountered some difficulties and I am unable to install it properly. I have followed the usual installation steps, but I am receiving errors during the process.
I would like to know if anyone has encountered this issue before or if they have any specific recommendations for correctly installing "bear" from "preinst". Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

I don't have any recommendations for how to install it. I looked at the home page for bear and the preinst.R linked from there. I decided not to attempt the installation for two reasons:

  1. The bear package was last on CRAN for R version 2.6.5.
  2. The preinst.R script has to run under sudo and is 1205 lines long

A package has to meet minimum standards of operability to be on CRAN, and no explanation is given why no attempt was made to keep it eligible over such a long period. The repo site on sourceforge shows only 2 downloads this year, so if there were problems related to the package, it's unlikely they would be discoverable from the experience from others. All the repo contents are zipped. The elevated privileges necessary to run preinst.r means a careful user must examine each line to make sure it does not do anything unwanted.

I would have to have a compelling reason to install this package even if the offered functionality appeared useful. I would first evaluate the {BE} bioequivalence package that doesn't involve any of the issues with installing {bear}.

Hi technocrat !
Indeed, the Bear package is no longer part of CRAN , I successfully managed to install it on R base version 4.1.3
