R cannot execute plot commands (example enclosed)

I am not a newby, but this error started a month ago and I cannot solve it: R cannot execute any plot command. In RStudio this leads to an infinity working, but works if I set the graphical device to AGG, but not with the default device. In R this leads to an error message: R is not responding. I have already reinstalled R several times, but nothing changed.

Device: M1 Mac pro 2021
