.r files appear black when opening in RStudio

Hello,

For some reason, when I open .R files in RStudio - they appear blank. In order to access the files, I have to open them in Notepad, then copy+paste them over to RStudio.

Once I have edited a file in RStudio, I can save within RStudio and these changes will be saved (in so far as I can see them when I reopen the file in Nopepad). But if I try to reopen in RStudio, it just comes up blank. If I then save the reopened file in RStudio, it wipes the file.

I have reinstalled both R and RStudio and still the same thing happens.

Any ideas what's going on??
