R Markdown template open in a new session and in chosen directory

Hi,

Is it possible to have an R Markdown template chosen by File > New Markdown > From Template (the template is a set of directories and files, similar to bookdown structure) open in a new RStudio session in the chosen working directory, and with a set of chosen files opened by default? Similar to how new bookdown projects are currently handled in RStudio.

Or does it just make more sense to create a project template rather than an R Markdown template?
