R Studio on laptop dying when I change display

Anyone heard of anything like this?

I run R Studio on my laptop. If I am running it and change displays (from the laptop's display to an external display or vice versa), it closes without warning. So I have to remember to close R Studio, then switch displays, then start it again. (For example, when I leave my office to go teach a class, I have to shut R Studio down, go to the classroom, display on the big screen there, then start up R Studio again. This is mildly annoying, since it makes it difficult to cue things up ready for class.)

I'm running a Dell Latitude laptop with Ubuntu 16.something and xfce, in case it matters. I've had this issue for a while, so it doesn't seem specific to the version of R Studio. I don't have similar issues with anything else, just R Studio.

I'm not really asking for a fix; I'm mostly curious about whether anyone else has experienced this.

This is why I like the R world so much!

Yep. Happens all the time to me. Very troublesome. It's been known for well over a year.
