R Studio won't load after updating VMware tools on VM

Running a VMware Horizon VDI and after updating VMtools on the master image, RStudio fails to load. just get a blank screen. last version of VMware tools that seem to work is v11.1.1

Anyone esle seen this behaviour?
Windows 10 21H1
VMtools v 11.1.1 (anything after this breaks RStudio)
R v4.13
RStudio 2202.02.0 build 443
