I asked this question back in November Rstudio goes blank during long script run but didn't get an answer. Surely I am not the only person to have this issue? The only way to resolve it to quite the program in the task manager which is a nuisance. I have been using many versions since first posting and happens on all.

Have you tried changing to software rendering?, you can change it by holding the Ctrl key while opening RStudio, then you should see this menu and change the "Rendering Engine" to "Software".
This is a general problem being tracked in https://github.com/rstudio/rstudio/issues/2038. It is a high priority to address in the next major version.
