About the job:

Our Solutions Engineers are responsible for helping customers understand and realize the benefits of our suite of products. You will work with customers through a combination of email and phone on these types of activities:

  • Working closely with Customer Success to present, discuss and demonstrate our various capabilities
  • Discussing optimal solution architecture and consulting on tradeoffs between various approaches
  • Installing, configuring and integrating RStudio products with customer systems, backing up our support organization when a customer becomes blocked
  • Helping to build a knowledge base of support documents, customer demos, and marketing collateral
  • Providing technical representation for RStudio (teamed with Customer Success) at trade shows (2-4 times per year post COVID)
  • Giving presentations, training, webinars and workshops (e.g. at rstudio::conf)
  • Collaborating with engineering on packages and products, both open source and professional

As a member of the solutions engineering team you will have the opportunity to grow and specialize your technical skills. You will work closely with the best engineers in the R and Python communities; you will help customer IT organizations solve complex problems; and you will help define best practices for using R and Python in production. Solutions engineers have a tremendous opportunity to grow their expertise and influence at RStudio. About you:

You have:

  • A strong background in R and/or Python programming and knowledge of the respective ecosystem(s)
  • A general understanding of enterprise infrastructure such as Linux system administration, authentication mechanisms and virtualization
  • Proven communication skills ; specifically, the ability to explain complex problems to customers, with patience and empathy
  • A desire for ongoing learning , keeping up-to-date with the latest cloud and data science technologies: compute tools (Kubernetes, Spark), integration points (Databases, ETL tools), and CI/CD workflows (Git, Infrastructure-as-Code)
  • Extensive experience working collaboratively with your team and across teams to solve challenging problems
  • A desire to share your knowledge, in the form of support articles, blog posts, training, etc.
