"Save as .... " function yields zero byte files

Dear Support,

I am using RStudio 2022.02.2+485 "Prairie Trillium" on Win 10 and R 4.2.
Recently, trying to save code into a textfile via the "Save as ... " button yields empty files. Changing the path to write to doesnt change this behaviour.

I have this problem, too. It seems to have overwritten even files that were not edited, but were open in the IDE. If there is no way to recover these files, I'll have lost literally months of work.

So I think it may have something to do with a bad interaction with memory problems and autosaving. I'm working from home on a old and cranky computer, and once I was able to recover versions of the zeroed-out files from earlier in the week I did notice that the new/old files were saving automatically. I turned that off and have not been able to replicate the problem so far. I recently did a new installation of everything, and maybe I turned on autosave at that point? And then maybe the problem I had, at least, was that some kind of memory problem interrupted the autosaving process in just the wrong way. Just spitballing here. It was quite a shock to see files set to 0 kB that I had merely opened in the IDE to look at them and had not edited in any way.
