I would like to plot sea surface temperature anomaly data as a color gradient in the background of my plots made in ggplot2. The goal is to be able to look for correlations between ENSO events and species density, size frequencies distributions, or biomass. The gradient would be vertical and based on the following dataset: https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/data/indices/wksst8110.for. Any ideas on where to start for this? I am rather new to R.
