Overview
The Osteoarthritis Initiative is a multi-center observational study of men and women. The OAI is a nationwide research study, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (part of the Department of Health & Human Services), that will help us better understand how to prevent and treat knee osteoarthritis, one of the most common causes of disability in adults.
Model overview
We used only 9 features to build this model, for study purpose, which are:
- sex
- race
- age, overriding the range in the study to allow more patients
- body mass index (bmi), overriding the range in the study to allow more patients
- walk using walking aid such as cane
- patient had or did not have a stroke (or similar medical problem)
- how often physical health result in being limited in kind of work or other activities
- is patient had knee surgery before
- is patient had knee pain before
