Styling table sent in email, styling currently ignored (in outlook)

Hi, Iˋm having the exact same issue as in this (currently closed) issue.

I‘m using mailR to send an email (in html mode) containg a table. The table should keep it‘s styling. I already tried different things

  • sending a html file (including self-contained, generated from Rmarkdown)
  • sending a html character string (including a minimal table with a single style property like ))
  • kable (and kableExtra) tables

    • None of them keep the styling when sent in an email body (and shown in Microsoft Outlook 365).

    I guess there's something (maybe another package to send the email) I am missing or is it because of outlook which is not allowing (even simplest) styling like background color?
