Trouble properly creating projects for students

I'm clearly doing something wrong, but I don't understand how to share projects with students so that they can save their own copy. Here's what I've done:

  1. Set up a workspace under my own account, set to "Everyone" has access.
  2. Asked my students to join the workspace. RStudio support increased the number of people allowed.
  3. Create projects pre-loaded with some scripts and data.
  4. Set their access to anyone in the workspace.
  5. Set them as assignments.

The students can open and work on the projects but the "Temporary" flag is on and they don't have the option or prompt to save a permanent copy. They also don't get the "Start assignment" or "Continue assignment" buttons that are shown in the RStudio cloud guide for teaching.

I don't see any derived projects on my end.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

Hi @sarah-cohen,

What role do your students have in your space? If your students are Viewers, they won't be able to make permanent copies. If that's the case, changing them to the Contributor role should allow them to start assignments properly. Could that be the cause of your issue?
