Jön a nyári szünet!

A csomag előnye, hogy a definiált tesztek, statisztikák eredményeit egy R-független, jól olvasható riportban összegzi, mely a futás paramétereit is rögzíti, ezzel biztosítv ... read more at the event page.

Imagine if every analysis you ever conduct from now on could be reproduced by anyone around the world. Or a method that gives you the power to integrate new data seamlessly complete with figures. In this workshop, we will be covering how to work in the open using R, R Markdown and Google Sheets. Greater Boston useR Meetup with Mara Averick

Date: 2018-06-26 at 18:00
Location: Boston, United States

Description Snippet:

"That's not [data] science!"

The boundaries of science and its constituent disciplines have never been static. Nevertheless, these boundaries and their associated terms have been fiercely defended and debated from within. Scientific norms and authority are established with an audience in mind — the public, policymakers, stakeholders, and even institutions. Though 'public understanding of science' has been the subject of academic inquiry for several decades, the channels and opportunities for engagement have changed dramatically with the rise of social media, and 'democratized' vectors of communication, including the co-production of open-source software.

Mara Averick, Tidyverse Dev Advocate @ RStudio

Speaker: Robert Bennetto (CTO at Icepack)
Topic: Tidy geometries
Description:
The sf package provides a new standard in how to wrangle geometries in R. There are several interfaces into and out of the package, but most interestingly - you can use the package with the %>% syntax for pipe lining operations. The means you can handle geometries in a almost query-like fashion which was not possible with the sp pacakge. sf represents an attempt to provide a handful of simple structures that ultimately support the bulk of typical geometries. This talk will demonstrate some fun boiler-plate code that will showcase the operations and flexibility ... read more at the event page.

R and Python study group

Date: 2018-06-30 at 10:00
Location: West des Moines, United States

Description Snippet:

Are you tired of learning and playing with Python and R alone? Would you like to get together with a few friends and learn together? I have been starting to learn R and Python for data science and following the typical route of videos and practice projects. I really want to ramp up my learning and exposure to different ways. Here is my proposal:

- Gather a small group of 2-5 and learn together.
- Meet at a coffee shop, library, or some other space that has Wi-Fi.
- Pick a project, data set or problem, then work to solve it with different tools.
- Keep it fluid and informal.
- Meet on a regular basis, say weekly to start, and adjust as needed.
- Aim to keep the meetings 2-4 hours long, but this can be adjusted to the project or group. People can come and go as needed.
- It does not have to be the same people each time, so you only have to commit to going once to check it out.

Are you interested? Show up at the meeting spot, have some coffee, meet ... read more at the event page.
