Vertical mouse position offset in RMarkdown documents

I am encountering an error when trying to select a text position via mouse. The mouse selects lines slightly above its position (a few pixels offset in the vertical direction).
Specifically, the error occurs only in .Rmd documents after the first code chunk display.
I am using RStudio Version 1.3.129 on MacOS 10.14.4 with monospaced fonts (switching fonts did not fix the issue).

IMPORTANT EDIT: It seems to be more complex: The problem does not occur on the retina screen of my Macbook, but only on the external monitor (non-retina).
