What's on your bookshelf / bookmarks bar?

Hey guys!

I am a 17 years old student from Italy. I am in love with data visualization.

I want to study statistics and I am fascinated by data visualization.

I love using R for data manipulation and I usually go for ggplot2.

I have some questions, and your opinion and guidance are invaluable for me.

  1. What kind of tool do you think is necessary for me to study for implementing visualizations in R? Do you https://d3js.org/ can be integrated in let's say - Shiny?

  2. I would like to start to collect some “real” books about data journalism and visualization I can read in order to underhand how data journalism evolved in the last years.

I found this:

  1. https://www.amazon.de/Semiology-Graphics-Diagrams-Networks-Maps/dp/0299090604/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Semiology+of+Graphics&qid=1589807630&sr=8-2

It’s old (end of the 60s.. but it seems incredible!)

Few, S: Show Me the Numbers

do you have other books in mind that you think are the “essential” to have on my bookshelves?

  1. What are the blogs or websites you think are the must-check when you feel like you want to some inspiration to sketch stuff (ie The NY Times amazing interactive articles) ? Anything related to ggplot2 or advanced Shiny?

  2. Workflow: How do you start your process? I was thinking to buy an ipad. Aside of course from pen and paper, starting with sketching a graph or a dashboard with an ipad would be a good idea maybe. What app would be a good investment - for those of you that start their workflow with in iPad?

Ciao from Italy!
