Workaround for Shiny error

I am running RStudio on Windows Version 1.2.5033.
Tools | Check for packages updates are all done.

I am trying to open a knit with Parameters with a goal of doing a HTML build with --number-sections set.

It requires installation of an update shiny package and asks if I want to install it.

the pop gives the error:
ERROR: compilation failed for package 'fastmap'
and exits continutally,

Going into Tools | Install packages | Shiny

fixes this happening.
