Dean Attali studied Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, Canada, and has 10+ years of experience as a software engineer in both large companies (Google, IBM) and small startups (Wish.com, Tagged.com). After spending several years in San Francisco and getting a good taste of the Silicon Valley tech life, Dean was curious to see what academia had to offer and went on to pursue a graduate degree in Bioinformatics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Dean became involved in Shiny since its early days and quickly developed a deep passion for R, the R community, and especially Shiny. Coming from a web development background, Dean was excited about the opportunities he saw to improve his and others' Shiny apps, and contributed a lot of open source content and packages to the community. In fact, helping others with their Shiny problems became such a habit that Dean is now the second top answerer of Shiny questions on StackOverflow! As a result of his passion for Shiny, Dean founded AttaliTech Ltd as a one-stop shop for all your Shiny needs.
