Joe, it will be easier if you aim at a one-hundred-page short book on a relatively small topic every year, instead of thinking of the seven volumes of "The Art of Reactive Programming". 
I think we have got (more than) enough materials on shiny.rstudio.com to write four or five 100-page books. (Actually same thing for rmarkdown.rstudio.com -- we need an "official" rmarkdown book, too.)
