broken link vignette with pkgdown (on github, but not locally)

I've built a very minimal, plain site using pkgdown, and while it works great locally, the links seem to break on Github. This issue has been previously discussed here:

Hello, I 've created a webpage for a pkg using pkgdown. I also created a custom vignette for the pkg. The site runs ok locally using pkgdown::build_site(), i.e. I can access to vignette. However when I upload (push) the site into github, the pkg web runs ok but I cannot view html the vignette. The link appears to be broken, and a “Page not found (404)” page appears instead. Solving my own problem here, but keeping it up for others that may run into the same issue. This was dumb - but I realized I had added some of the docs/ folder to the .gitignore, and thus that was causing the problem. So with the right files, pkgdowns' links work great!
