I prefer LuaTeX over XeTeX mainly because of the greater support of the package microtype. Therefore, I would like to include my results from R in a document typeset with LuaTeX, through a Sweave file - which I prefer over Rmarkdown for the easier control over the TeX packages and settings.
By default RStudio does not compile the Sweave files with LuaTeX, but I have seen here and here that it is possible to do so. My dounts are: is there any newer/better solution (the first link is 4yo)? are planning to add the LuaTeX option in the setting menu since it seems to work well for the guy asking?
