Difference between Diff and Commit Buttons on Git tab

Hi!
Is there any difference in the function of the two buttons Diff and Commit on the Git tab in RStudio?
Because if not, would you mind deleting one? Each and every time I press Diff or Commit (I don't have a preference) I ponder what the difference possibly could be - and that consumes more of my attention than I like

They're the same.

Originally, we imagined the views for these different actions might be different, but found both cases were useful: when committing, you often want to browse diffs, and including the commit textbox in the diff dialog didn't detract from the overall experience much.

Hence, one view for two actions.

Thanks for your reply.
And I definitively agree that one view for both is a good thing.
