Difference between renv package and package manager

Hi all,

I am confused between these 2 concepts.
Say we have package manager installed in RSconnect.

Is there a need to install renv package in project folder and use this feature??

So basically when renv and package manager is used ?

I don't believe so. In that context they would achieve the same goal. I think most just come to prefer and use renv.
