Leaflet Control Layers Tree

I'm looking to use the Leaflet.Control.Layers.Tree package to make hierarchical filters in leaflet. I'm trying to use the old arbitrary leaflet JS plugins tutorial with little success. Has anybody used this with the leaflet R package yet?
