R Studio Server runs but not in the background

Hello, I have a very strange problem and unsure if anyone else has come across this.

I use RStudio Workbench via a server and I have some scripts that might take about 20-30 mins to run. Usually I can switch tabs and leave the code running in the background, however recently I have not been able to do this.

If I hide my R (minimise Chrome OR have another program in front of Chrome OR switch to another tab) and continue working on something else, I will come back and nothing has happened. It is like it has paused and waiting for me to return to be able to run again.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any recommendations welcome!
