Rmarkdown - fontawesome - any way to bundle just specific font-awesome icons?

I've recently added a small "save" fontawesome icon to an Rmarkdown document.

The rendered HTML filesize grew by almost 4MB as a result - because all the fontawesome icons get bundled in the page.

Does anyone know any way to reduce this - to bring down the html dependency to just a few small icons in the font?
